SKYDEX Announces Next Generation of Convoy Deck

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SKYDEX Technologies today announced the release of its next generation of blast protective flooring for military vehicles – Convoy Deck Max. The new product utilized the company’s latest advanced blast mitigating technology, e-max™, to provide more protection for occupants inside of combat vehicles during blast events. The SKYDEX Convoy Deck Max represents an improved design from the company’s current Convoy Deck. The e-max technology absorbs 127 percent more floor velocity than the current product compared to a bare floor, further improving survivability for vehicle occupants. In addition, Convoy Deck Max can be scaled to meet the threat level for the vehicle in which it will be installed. The product is available in 1.25-, 1.75- and 2.25-inch variants that absorb greater amounts of blast energy at each thickness. Higher thicknesses are appropriate for high-threat –level missions, while lower thicknesses are satisfactory for lesser threat levels. Convoy Deck Max utilizes a new surface that has improved traction and is inherently anti-fungal and is completely manufactured in the U.S. “At SKYDEX, we are constantly seeking ways to improve our products, with the goal of improving survivability for our warriors in military vehicles – whether they’re on combat missions or on security patrols,” said SKYDEX President and CEO Mike Buchen. “Convoy Deck Max is the next step in the evolution of our vehicle decking. Not only is it stronger and thinner, it is scalable. This is not a one-size-fits-all product.” SKYDEX e-max™ technology differs from the standard SKYDEX twin-hemisphere configuration. Rather than being placed tip-to-tip, e-max™ hemispheres are interdigitated – that is, the tip of one hemisphere rests in the valley created by two opposing-faced hemispheres. As a result, the decking material is thinner yet absorbs as much or more energy as the original Convoy Deck.
